Working with Willi Sumser means shifting boundaries: the perception and sensation of one’s own body has increasingly raised in my consciousness. Moreover, it is so much fun to move and to expand space. My experiences of nature are intensified – especially through the seminars on Alicudi. Magical and dreamlike images have been imprinted in me and thus made me more sensible.
And last but not least, my serenity has expanded and clarity set in action by inspiring thoughts that have reached unsuspected depths.

I got to know Willi Sumser when he gave my multiply handicapped son an acupuncture massage after Penzel . This meeting inspired me because the muscle tone and skin tension eased, breathing deepened considerably and digestion was stimulated . The changes lasted for several hours. So I became curious about the art of movement practiced at Willis seminar.
My first impression was that he gladly put – according to my hectic mind that constantly classifies, evaluates, categorizes and in the end declares as reality – a spoke in my wheel.
The different exercises and movements made me perceive my body more intensively and I was able to strike up a friendship with it. A state of physical relaxation established, by what I could also re- consider my mental tension and fixations. I could send up new energy in my body and got the impression of being closer to myself by being closer to the energy. It also fulfilled me to see how Willi supportively commented the own new percipience with humor and distance all at once.

Movements with Willi on Alicudi enriched my long-standing practice of Tai Chi and martial arts and hence deepened my body awareness. The seminar acquainted me to experiences, which are difficult to put into words. Certain experiences have helped to structure conceptual limits of my world view more smoothly. This pushed my life forward and enhenced my feelings.
Most importantly Alicudi means to experience nature. During the long training sequences in wind and sun I was able to experience an intensive connection with the elements. Atmospheric pictures of many sunrises and sunsets have been deeply etched in my memory. Cloud formations, concise shapes of stones and rocks, the colors of flowers and vegetation are now vivid pictures in my mind.
Willis work features a constant change of dynamic sequences, holding single positions and sinking into calmer body work. Willi combines his profound knowledge of different internal and external martial arts styles with acupuncture and massage by intuitively addressing every participant individually. Thereby I frequently reached internal and external boundaries and was able to both strengthened my body and will, as well as my ability to feel and to open up myself to the present moment.
The intensive “rotation” with which Willi works – which reminds me of the „Sufipraxis“ – is only partly be described in words. It made me imagine how the world – as a rotational axis – might be perceived through the cosmos. The coexistence of letting go visual focus and keeping connection to the earth, is an essential part of this “rotation” to maintain balance. At the same time the thought process gets interrupted for a few moments and I was able to plunge into moments of simple existence.

The combination of soft and hard martial arts is a valuable discovery for me and enriched my long time Tai Chi Chuan practice. Willi Sumer’s work allows me a good contact with my environment and the whole group. In conjointness with archaic nature in Alicudi I get picked up through movements towards an opening of the senses and the heart. I can recognize and address upcoming topics more easily without having my mind excluding or whitewashing them. By resolving the normal daily structures in Alicudi the filter and protection mechanisms get trasparent, and so I become tangible.

This abundance allows me to ground myself on the one hand, and to open up and take a step out of my comfort zone on the other hand. This experience positively influenced me, caused lasting changes in my life and strengthened my attitude, my clarity and my well-being. In addition, the interactions with the other group members are characterized by mindfulness, appreciation and joy. It is a blessing to be with Willi.

Meanwhile I am taking part for over a year. Why? It’s simple, and yet profound: because the combination of exercise and excitation is good for my body and soul. Body and mind have become exposed – even entering the everyday. If you want to learn more about yourself or about the interaction of mind, body and soul, the workshops of Willi Sumser will give you the chance for it. The 5-day long workshop on Alicudi feels particularly intense. This island is very original, which personally deeply affected and enriched me. In this wonderful landscape a very intense contact with nature, themselves and others is possible – completely detached from everyday life. I find it also very beneficial that Willi Sumser gives suggestions without being dogmatic or announcing panaceas. You are right or wrong? Wrong! Each must be!

After two weekend courses with movements by Willi Sumser, I realized that his style of bodywork takes very deep – and – not entirely unimportant, I have rarely felt so happy when moving. I wanted more of it to slowly find the truth of my body. Thus followed a week in the strong, nurturing and clarifying force of nature of Alicudi. It is wonderful that you can’t fool your body. The moving shapes and reflections from Willi help to reach hidden layers, to make room for bright glowing crystals to retrieve from the swamp of conditioning. In his work, Willi shows an excellent sense of current group dynamics without losing sight of the individual and adapts his program to the prevailing issues with a rarely seen ease. In all processes I always felt professionally and sensitively accompanied. I can recommend the courses of Willi Sumser to all, who desire space and want to really and truly turn towards life.

To me, bodywork with Willi means to perceive my body more intensive and thus to live more consciously in the moment. This helps me to be more present and more creative in my work with groups, individuals and families. Over the many years of collaboration with Willi I have learned a repertoire of movements, which allows me to practice even by myself. Thereby I definitely became healthier and enduring. I am particularly impressed by the sensitivity to what currently is “pending” in a group or with me as an individual. The exchange of harsh and demanding movements with soft and slow movements, combined with an awareness of the processes of nature, make the workshops at Oderbruch and on Alicudi important for me to charge my physical and emotional batteries.
